The opposition to the offering of the gold layer in the sanctum sanctorum of the world-famous Kedarnath temple is now intensifying.
The pilgrim priests of Kedarnath Dham are afraid that the temple committee may not do the work of plating gold at night, for this now the pilgrim priests are guarding outside the time even during the night time.
A big donor from Maharashtra has proposed to put a layer of gold in the inner part of the Kedarnath temple, that is, the sanctum sanctorum.
In this part of the temple, there is already a layer made of 230 kg of silver. At present, the trial has started by removing the silver layers and applying the copper layer, and the pilgrimage priests of the Dham have come out in protest against it.
Baba Kedarnath’s Dham, the Dham of Moksha
Tirth priests say that Kedarnath Dham is Moksha Dham. Devotees come here after seeing Baba Kedar attain salvation, not to see gold and silver. The mythological traditions are being played with by plating gold and silver in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
Till today there was no gold here, so were the pilgrims not coming for darshan. Teerth priests say that a letter has also been sent to the CEO of Badri-Kedar Temple Committee regarding this matter. They have been demanded to stop the work of offering gold in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
Tirth priests say that under no circumstance will the gold layer be allowed to be offered in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
Ankur Shukla, a pilgrim priest of the Dham, says that if forcible work is done, it will be opposed. That is why the pilgrimage priests are guarding outside the Temple even during the night.
Badri-Kedar Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay said that there is no tampering with the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. At present, there are layers of silver in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, those are being removed and layers of gold are being applied.
There is no opposition to it. Only a few people are opposing it. When the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is decorated with gold, its divinity and grandeur will increase.
Pilgrim priests can go on hunger strike
Controversy has been going on for many days regarding the golden decoration in the sanctum sanctorum of Kedarnath temple. Some time ago, a charitable traveller from Maharashtra expressed his desire to apply the gold coating in place of silver.
On which the Badri-Kedar temple committee had also agreed. Ajendra Ajay, president of the Badri-Kedar temple committee, sought permission from the government for this. After removing the silver layer inside the temple, the copper layer is applied as a trial. Design, fitting etc. will be done by applying copper layers. As soon as these copper layers fit, then gold layers will be applied.
As soon as the pilgrim priests of Kedarnath Dham came to know about the laying of gold inside the temple, they started opposing it.
To apply this gold layer, holes are also being drilled inside the temple with a drill machine. The pilgrim priests expressed their displeasure over the piercing on the walls of the temple and now they are opposing it. Tirth priests say that if needed, even a hunger strike will be done in protest.
