Why SCO Summit being compared with NATO?

Why is SCO Summit being compared with NATO? The Sino-Russian-led Shanghai Cooperation Organization is holding a summit meeting in Samarkand city of Uzbekistan on September 15 in the midst of the Russia-Ukraine war and the war in Taiwan.

Apart from this, the way China wants to connect anti-US Iran with this organization has become stronger and it wants to establish an ‘Eastern NATO’ parallel to a NATO.

In such a situation, let us know in which direction the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is heading.

The SCO has a total of eight member countries which include India, Pakistan, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

.In such a situation, China and Russia are in the process of pitting the SCO against the US-led NATO.

This is the reason why India is proceeding with utmost care in this meeting.

Expected talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping

On Friday, India announced that the armies of both countries were withdrawing from patrolling point 15 of the Gogra-Haat Spring area.

Russia is trying to bring India and China together through the SCO and send a message of solidarity against the western countries.

Why SCO cannot be an opponent of NATO

This organization includes the world’s two most populous countries, China and India. With this, this organization brings the largest population in the world under its purview.

India became a member of this organization in the year 2017. The importance of SCO for India is primarily economic and geopolitical. The SCO is an organization through which India can enhance its policies in the energy-rich Central Asian countries.

SCO cannot stand against NATO.  ACCO’s charter states that the organization is not against any other country or international organization.

Apart from this, there is no Collective Security Treaty between SCO countries like NATO.
