Whenever a person, while working in one company, does a job secretly with another employer, it is called moonlighting. Usually, the second job is done by an employee after the job from 9 am to 5 pm. That’s why it is named Moonlighting.

Moonlighting has started in western countries, in these countries separate rules are also made regarding it. At the same time, it started in India during Corona.

Recently, the country’s leading IT company Wipro fired more than 300 employees due to moonlighting, after which a debate started on it. Earlier, big companies like Infosys, RBM and TCS have raised their objections to moonlight.

Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji has termed Moonlighting as a fraud with the companies. He had said at an All India Management Association (AIMA) event that Moonlighting violates the company’s allegiance.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani supported this and said that we need to accept the changes. We need to keep changing with the times. We welcome this change.

While talking to the media, the country’s Minister of State for IT on Moonlighting, Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that freelancing should never come at the cost of your obligation to the company.

However, the corporate sector should also understand that today’s youth wants to do many things simultaneously by using their skills. Don’t try to suppress them.
