South Asia is a subregion of Asia that comprises the southern part of the Asian continent. It includes eight countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

South Asia is known for its diverse geography, rich culture, and history. The region is home to the Himalayas, the world’s highest mountain range, as well as other mountain ranges, such as the Karakoram and the Hindu Kush. The region also has several large rivers, including the Ganges, the Brahmaputra, and the Indus.

South Asia has a diverse population, with various ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. The majority of the population in the region is Hindu, Muslim, or Buddhist. The region has a rich cultural heritage, including classical music, dance, and art forms, as well as ancient architectural marvels, such as the Taj Mahal in India.

The economies of South Asian countries vary widely, with some countries experiencing rapid economic growth in recent years, while others continue to face challenges related to poverty and underdevelopment. However, the region has significant potential for economic growth, given its large and growing population and its strategic location at the crossroads of major trade routes.

• The Maldives is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean.
• Nepal is bordered by China to the north, and India to the south, east, and west.
• Pakistan is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west and north, Iran to the southwest, and China to the northeast.
• Sri Lanka is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean, off the southeastern coast of India.
