October 2 is Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. There are many such stories of Gandhi, from which we can learn the formula of life management.
Dandi is an event during the Yatra. At one place Gandhi stopped for a while to rest and then left. At that time, a journalist Walker also came to America. Gandhiji was walking, Walker walked with him and said, ‘My name is Walker and I am a journalist for an American newspaper.’
Walker was thinking that Gandhi would stop and talk to him, but Gandhi just kept walking and said, ‘At this time I am also a walker, you will walk with me, and we will talk together.’
Hearing this, the walker stopped there, because he could not keep up with Gandhiji’s speed. Gandhi went ahead there.
At that time, a person said to Gandhi, ‘Walker is a great journalist, if you talk to him, Dandi Yatra would be promoted.’
Gandhi said to that person, ‘The most important time for me is time. That journalist has come at a time when I don’t have time. I can’t stop for publicity.’
Gandhi explained to all their friends and said, ‘Our body and time, these two are the most precious. Keep your body healthy and use your time properly.’
Mahatma Gandhi used to play badminton very rarely, one day a woman said to him, ‘I want to play badminton and you play a lot, I will teach you this game more.’
Gandhi got ready to play badminton with that lady. While playing, Gandhi saw that the woman’s right hand was injured and it was bandaged. Because of this, she is playing by holding the racket in her left hand.
Gandhi also started playing with a racket in his left hand. Seeing this, that woman said, ‘I have been hurt in my right hand, that’s why I am playing with my hands upside down. But why did you play with the left hand?’
Gandhi said, ‘Now you are not able to play directly, I do not want to take advantage of this. If I play with straight hands then it is possible that I will win, winning and losing in the game has their own place, but when you compete with someone, you should do it with equality. No weakness should be taken advantage of.’
Mahatma Gandhi reached a village. The villagers said to Gandhiji, ‘Now we have a lot of time. The crops have been harvested, that’s why everyone is free.’
Gandhi Ji said, ‘If there is time, sow some seeds at this time, the harvest of which will grow differently. Sow the seeds of karma at this time.’
Gandhi answered and said, ‘From the seeds of action, fruits such as habit, character, luck and service grow. If you sow the seeds of karma, your soul will be satisfied. Do something that will benefit people in the future. If we use our free time properly, when we are busy, these things can make our life easier.
