India tops World’s highest usage of 66% with 19% growth in 2022

The country is witnessing the highest growth in the world in terms of adoption and use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). In addition to remote working and working from home, the use of MFA is increasing due to the increasing cases of online fraud.

According to research agency Thales, the use of MFA has increased by 19% in India this year and it is among the world’s highest 66% people, while its global figure is 56%. In second place is Singapore, where 64% of people are using MFA with a 17% increase.

Account security by increasing multi-factor authentication

MFA is a special type of security technology. It consists of several steps and methods to verify the credentials to login into an account(s) or to transact online. Google’s two-factor authentication for logging into Gmail is also an example of this.

Ashish Saraf, Vice President and Country Director, India, Thales, said that the growing trend of multi-factor authentication in India reflects the growing cyber security awareness in the country in a growing entrepreneurial environment.

Remote workers use MFA the most, according to a Thales report, 68% of MFAs are used by remote workers worldwide. While 52% of the usage is among the preferred users. The trend of MFA among non-IT staff was 34% in 2021, which has increased to 40% this year. 84% of IT professionals worldwide have relied on their User Access Security System to make remote work secure and easy.

A single password is easy to crack, but the multi-factor authentication feature is not easily cracked. In such a situation, this feature should be used in your banking apps. In this feature, the user needs many things like a fingerprint scanner, OTP, debit card number along with the password to login. In such a situation, the multi-layer cannot be broken easily.
