The UN agency\u00a0said\u00a0on Monday that a warehouse used for its humanitarian\u00a0operations\u00a0\u201cwas\u00a0targeted by\u00a0a\u00a0precision-guided,\u00a0Iskander ballistic missile,<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0marking\u00a0the second time\u00a0the facility\u00a0has come under fire in six months.\u00a0<\/p>\n The\u00a0warehouse\u00a0was\u00a0storing enough humanitarian food\u00a0assistance\u00a0to support 130,000 people living near the frontline<\/strong>, with an estimated value of around $1.4 million.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the second time this warehouse has been hit. In November 2025, it was damaged by a drone strike,\u201d said Richard Ragan,\u202fWFP Representative in Ukraine.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cOver the past\u00a018 months,\u00a0WFP has recorded more than 84 incidents<\/strong>\u00a0affecting its warehouses, vehicles, distribution points, and the assets of its local humanitarian partners across Ukraine,\u201d\u202fhe added.\u00a0<\/p>\n He stressed that targeting humanitarians during conflict is a crime and a violation of international humanitarian law.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the wake of the attack, WFP teams were on site\u00a0to\u00a0assess the full extent of the damage, and all personnel were\u00a0marked as\u00a0safe.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite increasing security risks, the agency said its teams continue to provide critical food and cash\u00a0assistance\u00a0to\u00a0nearly\u00a0600,000\u00a0people\u00a0every month in frontline regions of Ukraine.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n The incident occurred a day after Russia carried out a massive drone and missile attack in the capital Kyiv and neighbouring regions, which\u00a0killed two\u00a0people and injured 90.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n UN humanitarians said it was one of the largest combined air attacks on the country since the start of the full-scale war in February 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n Russia has warned that it will carry out more strikes on the city, according to media reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine, Matthias Schmale,\u00a0visited one of the\u00a0sites\u00a0impacted\u00a0in Monday\u2019s attack\u00a0and recorded a video that was posted on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n He\u00a0noted\u00a0that \u201cthe whole market was burnt\u00a0down\u201d while a nearby metro station\u00a0\u2013\u00a0where\u00a0people were sheltering\u00a0\u2013\u00a0was\u00a0impacted.\u00a0<\/p>\n He recalled that the attack came\u00a010 days\u00a0after bombardment that left 24 dead in the city, saying \u201cthis nonsense has to stop.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Apart from Kyiv, attacks across Ukraine and frontine hostilities between 22 and 25 May\u00a0killed\u00a0nearly 20\u00a0and injured over 200 more civilians, with the regions of Kherson, Dnipro, Sumy,\u00a0Kharkiv\u00a0and Donetsk reportedly repeatedly\u00a0impacted.\u00a0<\/p>\n Humanitarians provided immediate emergency support after the attacks.<\/p>\n The full-scale\u00a0Russian\u00a0invasion of Ukraine\u00a0is now in its fifth year.\u00a0<\/p>\n UN human rights monitors\u00a0recently\u00a0reported\u00a0that more people were killed and injured in Ukraine during the first quarter of\u00a02026\u00a0than in the same period in any of the last three years.\u00a0<\/p>\n At least 238 civilians were killed, and 1,404 injured, in April, thus bringing the number of verified civilian casualties in 2026\u00a0at the time\u00a0to 815 killed and 4,174 injured.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\nAid under attack<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n
