Many students are believed to be among the dead.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on social media, UNESCO expressed deep alarm at the impact of the military attacks, which continued into Sunday, and noted that pupils in a place dedicated to learning are protected under international humanitarian law, and that \u201cattacks against educational institutions endanger students and teachers and undermine the right to education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UNESCO joined a host of bodies from across the United Nations system and senior officials, including Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, to condemn the military attacks, as well as the retaliatory strikes by Iran that hit several Middle Eastern countries.<\/p>\n<h2>Malala \u2018heartbroken and appalled\u2019 by strike<\/h2>\n<p>United Nations Messenger of Peace and Nobel Peace laurate Malala Yousafzai announced that she was heartbroken and appalled by the bombing of the school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"context-un_news_large_uncropped_credit_caption type-entermedia_image media media--type-entermedia-image media--view-mode-un-news-large-uncropped-credit-caption\">\n<div class=\"field field--name-thumbnail field--type-image field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Malala Yousafzai at the United Nations (file)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe killing of civilians, especially children, is unconscionable, and I condemn it unequivocally,\u201d she said in a social media post, and called for the escalation of violence across the region to end, and for justice and accountability to follow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll states and parties must uphold their obligations under international law to protect civilians and safeguard schools,\u201d she wrote. \u201cEvery child deserves to live and learn in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malala became an international symbol of the fight for girls\u2019 education after she was shot in 2012 for opposing Taliban restrictions on female education in her home country of Pakistan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/feed\/view\/en\/story\/2026\/03\/1167063\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The missiles reportedly destroyed a girl\u2019s primary school in Minab, southern Iran, killing around 150 and&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":82877,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[3331,1090,5894,480,224,2734,8780,191,9224,7494],"class_list":["post-82876","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-middle-east","tag-bombing","tag-deadly","tag-grave","tag-humanitarian","tag-iran","tag-law","tag-primary","tag-school","tag-unesco","tag-violation"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v28.5) -
