The development follows an Israeli cabinet decision from May 2025 and applies to Area C of the West Bank, which encompasses some 60 per cent of the territory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This will mark the first time since the 1967 occupation that Israel will begin registering land as state property following approval announced by the cabinet on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Risk of Palestinian\u00a0dispossession, greater Israeli control<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Briefing journalists\u00a0in New York,\u00a0UN Spokesman\u00a0St\u00e9phane Dujarric\u00a0said\u00a0the\u00a0decision could lead to the dispossession of Palestinians of their property. It also\u00a0risks expanding Israeli control over land in the area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch measures, including Israel\u2019s continued presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, are not only destabilizing\u00a0but,\u00a0as recalled by the International Court of Justice\u00a0(ICJ), unlawful,\u201d\u00a0he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said the Secretary-General calls\u00a0on the\u202fIsraeli Government\u202fto\u00a0immediately\u00a0reverse the measures\u00a0while again warning that the current trajectory on the ground is eroding the prospect of a two-State solution between Israelis and Palestinians.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Settlement activity illegal<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Last week, the Israeli cabinet approved\u00a0measures that would increase Israeli civilian authority in Areas A and B of the West Bank, which\u00a0together constitute roughly\u00a040 per cent of the territory\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Secretary-General\u202freiterates\u202fthat all Israeli settlements in the occupied\u202fWest Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the regime associated with them,\u202fhave no legal validity and are in flagrant violation of international law and relevant\u202fUnited Nations resolutions,\u201d\u00a0the Spokesman\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The UN chief\u00a0called on all parties to preserve the only path to\u00a0a negotiated two-State solution which is \u201cthe only path to lasting peace.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile\u00a0in Gaza,\u00a0humanitarians working in\u00a0logistics\u00a0supported the recent transportation of\u202fnearly\u202f1,900\u202fpallets\u202ffull of\u202ffood,\u202fshelter,\u202fhealth,\u202fwater\u202fand sanitation\u202fitems from crossing points\u00a0along the perimeter fence\u00a0with Israel\u00a0to destinations inside\u00a0the Strip.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite this,\u00a0aid\u00a0operations continue to face significant impediments,\u00a0the UN\u00a0Office for the Coordination\u00a0of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)\u00a0said in its\u00a0latest update.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shipments from Jordan\u202fare\u202frestricted to\u202fa\u202froute\u202fthat requires multiple offloading and reloading points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Those\u00a0from Egypt\u00a0\u2013 which come through the\u00a0Kerem Shalom\/Karem Abu Salem\u00a0crossing \u2013\u00a0face a high return rate, with less than 60 per cent offloaded\u00a0between the period from 4 to 10 February.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Humanitarian missions blocked<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Humanitarian movements\u00a0inside Gaza\u00a0that require coordination with Israeli\u00a0authorities\u00a0also continue to face obstacles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Out of\u00a0nearly 50\u00a0movements\u00a0coordinated between\u00a06 and 11 February, just over a half were fully\u00a0facilitated\u00a0and five were denied outright.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

While 11\u00a0movements\u00a0were approved, they\u00a0encountered\u00a0significant delays and other\u00a0impediments\u00a0and\u00a0two were only partially\u00a0accomplished\u00a0as a result.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

OCHA noted that two more\u00a0denials were recorded on Monday,\u00a0and \u201cteams on the ground\u00a0are engaging with\u202fthe authorities\u202fto clarify the constraints and seek their\u202fresolution so that our operations can move forward.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
