The baby girl\u00a0\u2013 just\u00a0three months old\u00a0\u2013 was found frozen to death on Tuesday morning at her home in Gaza City, according to\u00a0media reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This brings the\u00a0total number of\u00a0cold weather\u00a0deaths this season to nine<\/strong>, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq told journalists in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n In response, the UN\u00a0aid coordination office\u00a0OCHA, again called for urgent solutions \u201cincluding\u202fallowing\u202fthe\u202fentry of batteries, solar panels and\u202fother energy sources that are needed to set up\u202fcommunal heating spaces.\u201d\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n Humanitarians\u00a0continue to\u00a0support\u00a0Gaza\u2019s\u00a0population\u00a0more than three months into the ceasefire\u00a0and amid ongoing aid restrictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n Since the start of the year, more than\u202f860,000 people\u00a0have received food packages distributed through 50 distribution points, said\u00a0Mr. Haq.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe also continue to provide\u202fsome 1.6 million hot meals every day<\/strong>\u00a0to\u202fpeople in need,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n UN partners working in the health sector have vaccinated 3,000 children\u00a0under three\u00a0in the first two days of a 10-day\u00a0routine immunization\u00a0campaign that began on Sunday.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n The aim is to\u00a0further\u202fprotect\u00a0young lives\u00a0from vaccine-preventable\u202fdiseases.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n The\u202fWorld Health Organization\u202f(WHO)\u00a0also\u00a0facilitated\u202fanother medical evacuation\u00a0on Monday, transporting\u00a021 patients and their companions\u202fto Jordan.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n However,\u00a0more than\u202f18,000 patients, including 4,000\u202fchildren,\u00a0are still waiting\u00a0to be evacuated\u202f<\/strong>to\u00a0receive medical care that is not available in Gaza.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n WHO\u00a0called for more UN\u00a0Member States to\u202faccept these patients and for\u202fthe re-opening of the\u202fmedical evacuation\u202froute to\u202fthe\u202fWest Bank, including East Jerusalem.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n In other developments:\u00a0<\/p>\n OCHA\u00a0published its latest West Bank\u00a0<\/strong>monthly update<\/strong>, which showed that 14\u00a0Palestinians were killed and 231 injured there\u00a0in December.\u00a0<\/p>\n Israeli\u00a0settlers\u00a0also\u00a0carried out 132 attacks\u00a0during this period\u00a0that resulted in casualties or property damage, while 246 Palestinians were displaced.\u00a0<\/p>\n Seven Israelis were wounded\u00a0in the territory,\u00a0though\u00a0no fatalities were recorded.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The report further documented\u00a0record-high displacement and settler attacks in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n There were 240 Palestinian fatalities, including 55 children, in the West Bank last year. Most deaths, 225, were at the hands of Israeli forces,\u00a0and nine by settlers.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0remainder\u00a0were by either of these groups.\u00a0<\/p>\n Three quarters of all fatalities (181) were caused by live ammunition and 17 per cent (41) occurred in air strikes.\u00a0\u00a0Use of other weapons accounted\u00a0for 18 deaths, or eight per cent.\u00a0<\/p>\n Last year,\u00a03,982 Palestinians were injured, including\u00a0nearly 700\u00a0children, and 37,135 were displaced<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Attacks by Israeli settlers numbered 1,828 resulting in casualties and\/or property damage.\u00a0<\/p>\n During the same period, 17 Israelis were killed, including a child and six force members.\u00a0Another\u00a0101\u00a0Israelis\u00a0suffered injuries, with five children and 32\u00a0soldiers among them.\u00a0<\/p>\n Separately, the UN human rights office, OHCHR,\u00a0warned\u00a0that the pace of forced displacement of Palestinians in East Jerusalem is accelerating and historic\u00a0neighbourhoods\u00a0are being “systematically emptied”.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ajith\u00a0Sunghay, head of OHCHR\u2019s office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory\u00a0(OPT), highlighted\u00a0demolitions\u00a0and evictions in Silwan\u00a0neighbourhood\u00a0south of the Old City.\u00a0<\/p>\n Settlements have also expanded unlawfully\u00a0in the heart of three of the most significant Palestinian urban\u00a0centres: East Jerusalem,\u00a0Ramallah\u00a0and Bethlehem.\u00a0<\/p>\nThousands receive food aid<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n
