Since Sunday, more than 1,000 people were newly displaced\u00a0from\u00a0Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan state, as well as the towns of Dilling and El\u00a0Koaik.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
They are\u00a0reportedly seeking\u00a0shelter in four other states: North and West Kordofan, Khartoum and White Nile.<\/p>\n
Fighting across the\u00a0Kordofans\u00a0has intensified as the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF)\u00a0continue their\u00a0battle for control of the country.<\/p>\n
Humanitarians report that people have also been arriving in White Nile from parts of\u00a0West\u00a0Kordofan state that have seen intense\u00a0clashes\u00a0this month, including the towns of\u00a0Babanusa\u00a0and Heglig.<\/p>\n
Some 1,600 people \u2013\u00a0mainly women\u00a0and children \u2013 arrived in the city of Kosti in White Nile state on Tuesday, according to local authorities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Many\u00a0of the arrivals\u00a0endured journeys lasting over a week \u2013 often through\u00a0neighbouring\u00a0South Sudan \u2013 and showed\u00a0clear signs\u00a0of trauma, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq told journalists in New York.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile our humanitarian partners are providing them with basic shelter, health, water, sanitation, food and protection assistance, needs are outstripping available resources,\u201d he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, our partners report that more than 3,000 people have crossed from the Kordofan region into Yida in South Sudan in recent days, with further displacement expected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, people from the\u00a0Kordofan and Darfur regions\u00a0in Sudan\u00a0are\u00a0fleeing\u00a0farther east in\u00a0Gedaref\u00a0state. Around 2,500\u00a0people\u00a0recently arrived in the locality of Al\u00a0Fao, authorities reported on Monday, with more expected in the coming days.<\/p>\n
Displacement also continues to rise in the town of Ad Dabbah in\u00a0Northern\u00a0state, where more than 15,000 people from the Kordofan and Darfur regions are already\u00a0sheltering\u00a0in Al\u00a0Afad\u00a0camp.<\/p>\n
\u201cAssistance is being scaled up, but efforts to support food security and livelihoods and provide cash assistance remain critically underfunded<\/strong>,\u201d Mr. Haq said.<\/p>\n The UN migration agency, IOM, estimates that\u00a0more than\u00a09.3 million\u00a0people\u00a0remain\u00a0internally displaced across Sudan\u2019s 18 states<\/strong>, alongside over three million returnees in nine states.\u00a0\u00a0More than half are children.<\/p>\n \u201cNearly one third of displaced families and one fifth of returnee households have reported going a full day and night without food in the past month, while access to healthcare and sanitation remains severely limited,\u201d Mr. Haq said.<\/p>\nMillions displaced nationwide<\/strong><\/h2>\n
