{"id":56415,"date":"2025-05-04T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/houthi-missile-hits-near-israels-ben-gurion-airport\/"},"modified":"2025-05-04T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-04T09:00:00","slug":"houthi-missile-hits-near-israels-ben-gurion-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=56415","title":{"rendered":"Houthi missile hits near Israel&#8217;s Ben Gurion airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">A missile fired from Yemen landed near the main terminal of Israel&#8217;s Ben Gurion airport on Sunday morning, Israeli authorities said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Unverified footage posted online appeared to show drivers on a road nearby pulled over to take cover as a projectile lands, creating a plume of black smoke near the airport, which is on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Four people were injured due to the blast, with another two injured on their way to a shelter, Israeli media reported, citing emergency services. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Israel&#8217;s defence minister, Israel Katz, said in a statement: &#8220;Anyone who hits us, we will hit them seven times stronger&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a televised statement that the Israeli airport was &#8220;no longer safe for air travel&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The airport has now reopened to flights, after temporarily halting them. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sirens were activated in several parts of the country as the missile approached &#8211; and the Israeli Air Force said it was investigating the failure to intercept it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Footage shared by local media showed a large crater in the ground at the impact site. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The Houthis, an Iran-backed rebel group based in Yemen, have regularly launched missile attacks at Israel in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza, but it is rare for one to make it through Israel&#8217;s air defences. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The group have also been carrying out attacks on ships in the Red Sea, which the US has responded to by leading a bombing campaign against it  &#8211; which the UK has assisted in. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cyvqr00278no\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A missile fired from Yemen landed near the main terminal of Israel&#8217;s Ben Gurion airport on&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":56417,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[762,6288,6289,441,1336,1424,420],"class_list":["post-56415","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-top-stories","tag-airport","tag-ben","tag-gurion","tag-hits","tag-houthi","tag-israels","tag-missile"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
