{"id":49929,"date":"2024-12-16T11:46:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-16T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/one-in-four-babies-born-by-caesarean-in-england\/"},"modified":"2024-12-16T11:46:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T11:46:00","slug":"one-in-four-babies-born-by-caesarean-in-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=49929","title":{"rendered":"One in four babies born by Caesarean in England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) president Dr Ranee Thakar said complex births were a &#8220;major factor&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We are seeing national rising rates of obesity and people choosing to have children at a later state in their life, both of which can increase the chance of complications,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The likelihood of a Caesarean increased with the mother&#8217;s age. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">And for those aged over 39, it was the most common method of delivery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Most women under 30, meanwhile, had &#8220;spontaneous&#8221; vaginal births, without medical intervention to start labour. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A third of all deliveries were induced, meaning labour was started using artificial methods such as a hormone drip or a pessary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The RCOG does not promote one form of birth over another. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c8ew4jjr252o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) president Dr Ranee Thakar said complex births were a&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":49932,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[1584,3719,4373,866],"class_list":["post-49929","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","tag-babies","tag-born","tag-caesarean","tag-england"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v28.5) -
