{"id":49423,"date":"2024-12-07T06:18:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-07T06:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/mum-given-65-blood-bags-to-save-her-life\/"},"modified":"2024-12-07T06:18:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-07T06:18:00","slug":"mum-given-65-blood-bags-to-save-her-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=49423","title":{"rendered":"Mum given 65 blood bags to save her life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It took four surgeons operating at once, alongside a team of theatre staff at Warrington Hospital, to save Adele. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Adele recalls: &#8220;I vaguely remember Jasmine being born and then I passed out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;By this point I&#8217;d already lost six litres of blood and it was thought that I&#8217;d stabilised.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But in the recovery room doctors realised she was bleeding internally and that she urgently needed the extra surgery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Adele told BBC News: &#8220;I only realised how close I was to dying, when I was momentarily in the recovery room. I felt sheer panic that I may never see my husband or children again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Adele says she remembers crying and saying &#8216;I think I&#8217;m dying&#8217; and telling the theatre staff that she was scared.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She says her husband was told to call their family &#8211; including their four other daughters &#8211; and tell them come and prepare to say goodbye. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In all, Adele was given 28 units of red blood cells, 20 units of fresh frozen plasma, nine units of cryoprecipitate and eight units of platelets &#8211; the biggest transfusion at the hospital since 2000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A year on, to thank staff and support the Christmas appeal for blood donors, Adele has visited the Liverpool NHS Blood and Transplant regional centre, which sent most of the blood for her care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Staff laid out the exact number of units of blood products she received, to illustrate how much help she needed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cvgm703xrd3o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It took four surgeons operating at once, alongside a team of theatre staff at Warrington Hospital,&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":49426,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[3231,1715,805,912,973],"class_list":["post-49423","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","tag-bags","tag-blood","tag-life","tag-mum","tag-save"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
