{"id":47325,"date":"2024-11-04T01:38:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-04T01:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/nhs-stroke-campaign-urges-dont-delay-making-999-call\/"},"modified":"2024-11-04T01:38:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T01:38:00","slug":"nhs-stroke-campaign-urges-dont-delay-making-999-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=47325","title":{"rendered":"NHS stroke campaign urges &#8216;don&#8217;t delay making 999 call&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">NHS England says recognising any one of these signs in yourself or others and dialling 999 urgently is crucial to getting prompt, specialist treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Yet the average time taken to make that emergency call was 88 minutes in 2023-24, NHS data reveals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The analysis, from a team at King&#8217;s College London, looked at data for more than 41,000 stroke patients who were taken by ambulance to hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">NHS England also said a recent poll they carried out found a mistaken belief that two or three stroke symptoms were necessary before calling 999.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Professor Sir Stephen Powis, NHS England&#8217;s medical director, said people should act fast to help save lives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">\u201cThese figures highlight very clearly that we must do more to support people to recognise the symptoms of stroke in themselves and others, and take action to call 999 at the earliest opportunity. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He said stroke symptoms &#8220;can be less obvious or dramatic than you might expect&#8221;, but added that even if it doesn\u2019t seem like it, any sign of a stroke is always an emergency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/ce9g810m8kxo\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NHS England says recognising any one of these signs in yourself or others and dialling 999&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":47328,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[1082,2205,1720,3380,852,364,3725,745],"class_list":["post-47325","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","tag-call","tag-campaign","tag-delay","tag-dont","tag-making","tag-nhs","tag-stroke","tag-urges"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
