{"id":46589,"date":"2024-10-20T17:11:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T17:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/israeli-strike-in-north-gaza-kills-87-hamas-run-ministry-says\/"},"modified":"2024-10-20T17:11:00","modified_gmt":"2024-10-20T17:11:00","slug":"israeli-strike-in-north-gaza-kills-87-hamas-run-ministry-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=46589","title":{"rendered":"Israeli strike in north Gaza kills 87, Hamas-run ministry says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In a statement on Sunday, Gaza&#8217;s Hamas-run health ministry revised its death toll from 73 to 87 after the Israeli strike on Beit Lahia. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The earlier casualty figures were provided by Hamas late on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The ministry also said that ambulance crews were unable to reach the site of the Israeli strike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described the strike as a &#8220;precision&#8221; attack on a &#8220;Hamas terror target&#8221;. It told the BBC it was &#8220;doing everything possible to avoid causing harm to civilians&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Dr Eid Sabbah, Kamal Adwan Hospital&#8217;s director of nursing, said the Israeli strike in Beit Lahia had completely destroyed several buildings, with &#8220;more than four, five residential blocks&#8230; razed to the ground&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The strikes targeted an entire residential square, Dr Sabbah said, in between Abu Jidian roundabout and Al Qassam mosque.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Dr Sabbah added that dozens of people were killed and many were wounded \u201csome of whom reached the hospital, some of whom remain under the rubble\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He urged for an end to the &#8220;siege&#8221; on hospitals in northern Gaza and &#8220;for life to return to normal&#8230; before it\u2019s too late, before our nation is exterminated\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Several images &#8211; including the one below &#8211; have since emerged on social media showing the treatment of the injured from Beit Lahia at the Kamal Adwan Hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The images have been verified by the BBC as being from the hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/ce3wdkjgxz2o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a statement on Sunday, Gaza&#8217;s Hamas-run health ministry revised its death toll from 73 to&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":46592,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[190,2261,295,192,1819,1163,189],"class_list":["post-46589","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-top-stories","tag-gaza","tag-hamasrun","tag-israeli","tag-kills","tag-ministry","tag-north","tag-strike"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.0 (Yoast SEO v28.5) -
