Rival budget carrier EasyJet was warning of severe delays and disruption. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Members of France&#8217;s Syndicat National des Contr\u00f4leurs du Trafic A\u00e9rien, or SNCTA, the main union for traffic controllers in the country, began striking from 6 a.m. central European time (00:00 a.m. ET) Friday. Knock-on disruptions are expected to carry on into Monday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The union said it was calling the action after negotiations stalled with the government over pay rises in line with inflation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;After several months spent negotiating to get fair and adapted answers, SNCTA&#8230; laments the lack of concrete elements and guarantees from public authorities,&#8221; it said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<h3>More delays<\/h3>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"CaptionedImage__component\">\n<div class=\"Image__component CaptionedImage__image Image__hasAspectRatio\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image__image\" src=\"https:\/\/dynaimage.cdn.cnn.com\/cnn\/e_blur:500,q_auto:low,w_50,c_fill,g_auto,h_28,ar_16:9\/http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.cnn.com%2Fcnnnext%2Fdam%2Fassets%2F220916133524-passengers-paris.jpg\" alt=\"French aviation authorities warned up to 50% of flights could be affected by the strike.\"\/><\/div>\n<p>French aviation authorities warned up to 50% of flights could be affected by the strike.<\/p>\n<p>Horacio Villalobos\/Corbis News\/Corbis\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Paris A\u00e9roport, which owns and manages 14 civil airports and airfields in the \u00cele-de-France (Paris) area, warned on Thursday to expect &#8220;significant&#8221; delays and cancellations on arrivals and departures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Many flights passing over French airspace were also affected. Barcelona Airport&#8217;s departure board showed more than 50 flights delayed or canceled after noon Friday.
