The train track is still operational, and there have been security issues with tourists who like to sit, lie down and pose on the tracks. <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"Paragraph__component\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_CA2E4B05-1B74-733A-58A5-3FD1D002398B\"><span>Although there has been official pushback in the past &#8212; most notably in 2019 &#8212; the Hanoi regional government is now taking a hard line by revoking all the licenses for coffee shops and other businesses along the street.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span>All of them have until September 17 to close. <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"CaptionedImage__component\">\n<div class=\"Image__component CaptionedImage__image Image__hasAspectRatio\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image__image\" src=\"https:\/\/dynaimage.cdn.cnn.com\/cnn\/e_blur:500,q_auto:low,w_50,c_fill,g_auto,h_28,ar_16:9\/http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.cnn.com%2Fcnnnext%2Fdam%2Fassets%2F220915130159-02-hanoi-train-street.jpg\" alt=\"Authorities are reportedly putting up barricades to keep tourists out of &quot;Train Street.&quot;\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Authorities are reportedly putting up barricades to keep tourists out of &#8220;Train Street.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>VINH DAV\/Adobe Stock<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Shop owners were reportedly given just a few days&#8217; notice. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The closure has been met with mixed reactions from people who live on and near Train Street and rely on tourists for a living.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;It would be better if we, local people and the authorities can cooperate for developing our Train Street,&#8221; one cafe owner &#8212; who requested anonymity because fear of reprisal from the local government &#8212; told CNN Travel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>They said that income from tourism had helped repair their home, raise quality of life and support older relatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;This closure shall affect directly on our earning,&#8221; the owner added.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"Paragraph__component\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_83A241A9-7484-DD16-3B3E-3FBD23F05944\"><span>Meanwhile, the Viet Nam Railway Corporation, which operates the rail line, has recently proposed that operating cafes, shooting photos or filming videos along &#8220;Train Street&#8221; should be a fineable offense. <\/span><\/div>\n<p><span><em>Top image: Patrons drink coffee in cafes along Train Street.
