{"id":104348,"date":"2026-10-22T06:51:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T06:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=104348"},"modified":"2026-10-22T06:51:00","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T06:51:00","slug":"arab-news-oil-climbs-more-than-1-on-fresh-houthi-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=104348","title":{"rendered":"Arab News | Oil climbs more than $1 on fresh Houthi attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Oil prices rose more than $1 a barrel \u200con Thursday after more Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia stoked concerns over a broader escalation of conflict and further disruptions to supplies from the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Brent crude futures rose $1.93, or 1.77 percent, to $110.75 a barrel at 07:42 a.m. Saudi time, while US West Texas Intermediate crude gained $1.43, or 1.47 percent, to $98.58. \u200bBrent had settled largely unchanged on Wednesday, while WTI had eased 67 cents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOil prices remain well bid, with \u200bICE Brent back above $110 per barrel this morning following additional deadly attacks on Saudi Arabia,\u201d \u2060ING analysts said in a note on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The US State Department plans to <u>withdraw<\/u> family members from a number of other \u200bUS missions in the region, US officials told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Yemen\u2019s <u>Iran-aligned Houthis<\/u> struck several targets on Wednesday with at least one person \u200bkilled and eight more wounded at a civilian airport in Dammam, and two people killed in a drone attack on a Saudi oil field.<\/p>\n<p>Explosions were also heard in Sirik in southern Iran, Iranian media reported on Wednesday, saying the nature and origin of the explosions were \u200bunknown.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said on Thursday that four vessels involved in illegal oil transfers in the northern \u200bPersian Gulf <u>were simultaneously hit<\/u> and caught fire after being tracked by its forces on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The IRGC added that three more vessels collided with \u200cmines \u2060west of the Strait of Hormuz, and warned the US military that continued provocations could lead to a wider response against its regional bases.<\/p>\n<p>Supply disruption continued to impact global inventories.<\/p>\n<p>US crude stocks fell by 3.06 million barrels to 412.5 million barrels last week, the US Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday, compared with analysts\u2019 expectations in a Reuters poll for an \u200b820,000-barrel draw.<\/p>\n<p>Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel \u200band heating oil, rose \u20601.68 million barrels in the week to 104.3 million barrels, versus expectations for a 1.16 million-barrel drop, EIA data showed.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration is offering to loan up to nearly a \u200bthird of the 1-million-barrel US emergency heating oil reserve, the Department of Energy said on \u200bWednesday, seeking to \u2060contain prices that have surged on diesel shortages due to the wars in Iran and Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in St Petersburg on Wednesday for talks on ending the war in Ukraine amid Washington\u2019s latest \u2060push to \u200bstop Europe\u2019s bloodiest conflict since World War Two.<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin said Putin had \u200bagreed to resume <u>US-mediated peace talks with Ukraine<\/u> as soon as next month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he <u>supported the<\/u> <u>talks<\/u> and hoped they would start \u200bas soon as
