{"id":101644,"date":"2026-10-06T20:51:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T20:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=101644"},"modified":"2026-10-06T20:51:00","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T20:51:00","slug":"arab-news-iran-summons-french-envoy-over-violent-response-to-school-protests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gulftimes.ae\/?p=101644","title":{"rendered":"Arab News | Iran summons French envoy over \u2018violent response\u2019 to school protests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>TEHRAN: Iran summoned French ambassador to Tehran Pierre Cochard on Tuesday over Paris\u2019s treatment of protesters demanding better conditions in schools, state media reported, with French police having clashed for days with demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>Iran accused France of \u201cviolent treatment\u201d of the protesters and \u201cextensive and flagrant human rights violations\u201d during the demonstrations, which began late last month and have been accompanied by unrest.<\/p>\n<p>Relations between France and Iran have been strained for months, with the two expelling each other\u2019s diplomats in August.<\/p>\n<p>Iran itself suffered major anti-government protests in January, during which the authorities reported more than 3,000 deaths, blaming \u201cterrorist acts\u201d orchestrated by the United States and Israel. Foreign-based NGOs maintain that security forces fired on
