From Farfetch to luxury department stores, designer Shatha Essa talks success on Emirati Women’s Day

DUBAI: French Algerian model Loli Bahia has nabbed a starring role in the new autumn-winter 2022 campaign by British luxury label Burberry.

The 19-year-old rising star shared images of the shoot with her 45,600 followers on Instagram.

The Paris-based model posed alongside Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, Italian model Mariacarla Boscono and Chinese runway star Lina Zhang in the campaign shot by renowned fashion photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh.

In the pictures, Bahia was spotted wearing multiple outfits including a red pleated dress, a beige trench coat with chain details, a pink set and a beige skirt and top with the brand’s logo printed on it.

Her outfits were accessorized with newly released shoes and bags from the brand’s latest collection. She wore oversized bow earrings and had her eyebrows bleached in some of the shots.

For this line, Italian fashion designer and Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci mixed various vibes, playing with the brand’s classic camel trench looks.

“It was important for me to explore what it means to belong, how our roots influence our identity and how the power of community and togetherness is what truly brings meaning to the world,” he said in a statement that also paid tribute to the city of London.

“The collection embodies an intangible essence that is Britishness, a unique fusion of honoring the beauty of the past, whilst also remaining focused on the future with thankfulness, hope and love,” he added.

At just 19, Bahia is quickly shaping up to be one of the most in-demand models in the industry, becoming a runway fixture in just a couple of months after a breakthrough Spring 2022 fashion season, where she walked in 65 shows.

The rising star strutted down the catwalks of a host of prestigious labels, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Givenchy, Lanvin and Valentino, to name but a few.

Bahia, who is signed to Women Management Paris, made her runway debut in 2020 at Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2021 show. She would go on to star in the Parisian luxury house’s advertising campaign for Fall 2021.

She has also featured in campaigns for Saint Laurent, Courreges and Max Mara in addition to starring on the cover of Vogue Italia.
