First time Muslim World League celebrated Gandhi Jayanti

For the first time in history, the Muslim World League in Mecca, Saudi Arabia paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 153rd birth anniversary.

Appreciating Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in the philosophy of non-violence, the Muslim World League for the first time paid tribute to him and said that the message of non-violence should be spread internationally on this day. The Muslim World League is an international non-governmental Islamic organization based out of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Mecca is considered to be the birthplace of Hazrat Muhammad and here is the Kaaba, the holiest place in Islam. The organization’s greetings on the birth anniversary of ‘Bapu’ underscore the strength of India’s ties with the Muslim and Arab world.

The Muslim World League tweeted, ‘Today, October 2, we are celebrating Gandhi Jayanti. It is being celebrated to remember the life of Mahatma Gandhi, a visionary, freedom fighter and follower of non-violence. Today is also the International Day of Non-Violence.

At the same time, according to the report of news agency PTI, Mahatma Gandhi, who taught the world the lesson of truth and non-violence, got to see the life-sized ‘avatar’ for the first time in the United Nations.

The occasion was the International Day of Non-Violence in which a special life-sized hologram of Bapu was presented and his message on education was shared by a global organization. International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The International Day of Non-Violence was celebrated in the United Nations on Friday itself by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Peace and Sustainable Development Education (MGIEP).

A special life-size hologram of Mahatma Gandhi was presented during the discussion held on the occasion. A hologram is a 3D laser image. In this, any picture can be presented through laser rays in the dark background. The objective of the International Day of Nonviolence is ‘to spread the message of non-violence through education and public awareness.’
