On Sunday, Afghanistan completed a year for its schools for girls. Nasser Ahmad Faik, in charge of the United Nations Permanent Mission in Afghanistan, said that denying girls their basic right to education is national treason.

Markus Potzel, the acting head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), said earlier that the ongoing boycott for girls in high schools in Afghanistan makes no sense and that one year of it would mark the completion of schools for girls. According to the khaama press, UNAMA said about not allowing girls to go to school, ‘There is no point in taking girls out of schools in Afghanistan and there is no such system in any country in the world.’
The restrictions were imposed in September last year
After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Afghan high schools opened their doors to boys on September 18 last year, while girls were banned from attending schools.
