Ashok Gehlot will not contest for the post of Congress presidential polls

After meeting Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot refused to contest for the post of party president.

He described himself as a loyal soldier of the party and said, ‘I have apologized to Sonia Gandhi.’ It is reported that senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot is also going to meet Sonia Gandhi today.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot said, ‘I met Rahul Gandhi in Kochi and requested him to contest for Congress President. When they refused, I decided to contest the elections but now considering the political situation in Rajasthan, I have decided not to contest the elections.

This morning Sonia Ashok Gehlot reached 10 Janpath to meet Gandhi. Let us tell you that it was already being speculated that after the proposed talks between Gehlot and Sonia Gandhi, the picture of Digvijay Singh’s nomination for the post of party president would be clear.
