Russia says that the land corridor connecting Crimea passes through these provinces. In this sense, Russia has also celebrated the victory of these provinces.
Russia has also said that this decision has been taken after the referendum here. However, this referendum has been conducted under the shadow of guns. America, Western countries and the UN have also called this referendum wrong. The UN has even said that Russia is openly flouting international rules in this way.
