A total of three people, including senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Shashi Tharoor and Jharkhand’s KN Tripathi, had filed their nominations for the post of Congress President.

He was out of the race as KN Tripathi’s nomination got cancelled. Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor are in the race for the post of President.

While Shashi Tharoor called Kharge the Bhishma Pitamah of the Congress, on the other hand, he is being considered as the candidate for the post of president by the high command. Many names came up for the nomination for the post of Congress President, in which Digvijay Singh’s name was also in the news.

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh had taken the nomination form for the post of President but did not submit it.

Many political pundits are believing that Digvijay Singh has a faction within the Congress that does not like him. Political experts argue that from time to time, Digvijay says something that causes massive damage to the party. Digvijay became a victim of this faction.

Digvijay Singh becomes a victim of a faction present inside the party, this faction does not like Digvijay Singh. He believes that there is a caste-specific faction inside the Congress, which started creating an atmosphere against him and carved out several past incidents, due to which he had to withdraw his name.

The faction also started saying that from time to time many Rajput leaders have taken on the high command. He also started referring to Digvijay’s old statement, which said that Congress would be at a loss if he became the president.

Digvijay used to be very close to Congress. During the 2012 UP elections, Digvijay Singh came close to the Gandhi family and especially Rahul Gandhi.

However, the distance between him and the Gandhi family continued to grow over the years. Digvijay remains in the discussion from time to time due to his statements. His statement not only harmed Congress but also increased his distance from the Gandhi family.

The new power centre being built around the Gandhi family cannot be denied. Kharge has been considered very close to the Congress’s high command. He has not done anything so far which has harmed the high command or Congress.

He was never known as a leader with a divergent view from the high command. The history of the last three decades of the post of Congress President has been similar. It is known that after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao was first made the Congress President and then the PM.

Sonia Gandhi at that time agreed to hand over the command of Congress completely to him. He also took many big decisions while Prime Minister and proved that he is not just a puppet of the high command.

After becoming the Congress President and Prime Minister, Rao’s relations with the high command deteriorated. He had established himself as a power centre in the Congress.

The Congress was defeated in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, due to which his position as Congress President began to weaken. At the same time, he handed over his succession to Sitaram Kesari, who was considered the weakest leader of the Congress at that time.

After taking over as Congress President, Kesari cut the ticket of Narasimha Rao in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. It is known that these examples are enough to show that after becoming the Congress President, the political equation and decision-making ability have been changed. This is the reason why the Gandhi family could not dare to make Digvijay Singh the candidate for Congress President.
