Before the T20 World Cup, Team India tasted victory by defeating Australia in the home T20 series. After the defeat in the Asia Cup, this victory will serve to boost morale for the Indian team. But with this, there are also many concerns, which are emerging. One of these is the failure of the team’s vice-captain KL Rahul in the big match.

Even before the start of this series, questions were raised about KL Rahul’s form. Now when Team India had to face Australia in the series decider in Hyderabad, there were still high hopes from KL Rahul but he proved to be a failure here too. It has been seen many times when KL Rahul has returned to the pavilion early in the big match.

KL Rahul is flopping again and again

Looking at KL Rahul’s last few innings, his bat becomes calm in big and decisive matches, where Team India needs him the most. Although in the last five innings of T20 International, KL Rahul scored 2 fifties, in these matches, Team India was also defeated.

If we talk about important matches, then KL Rahul could score only 1 run in the deciding match against Australia in Hyderabad. Earlier, in the crucial match against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup, Rahul was dismissed for 6 runs, while in the two matches against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, KL Rahul was able to score 0 and 28 runs. In last year’s T20 World Cup also, KL Rahul was out for 3 runs in front of Pakistan.

KL Rahul’s T20 record: 64 matches, 2029 runs, 38.28 average, 18 fifties, 2 centuries

On one hand, KL Rahul is seen struggling, on the other hand, there are some players who are struggling to make a place in Team India even after a strong performance. If we talk about the openers only, there are openers like Prithvi Shaw, and Shubman Gill who are consistently performing better but because the pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma has been fixed, they are not getting a chance.

Prithvi Shaw has been running out of Team India for a long time. Meanwhile, playing for India-A, he played brilliant innings of 77 runs in 48 balls, hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes on the previous day itself. If we look at the record of Prithvi Shaw in T20, his performance in the last two IPLs has been good. In IPL 2022, Prithvi scored 283 runs in 10 matches, and 479 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2021.

On the other hand young opener Shubman Gill is also in the same condition, whenever he has got a chance for Team India, he has performed better. Shubman has not been able to play T20 Internationals for India yet, but in 9 ODIs he has scored runs at an average of 70.

At the same time, in IPL, Shubman has scored 1900 runs in 74 matches. Playing for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, Shubman Gill scored 483 runs in 16 matches and was one of the highest run-scorers for the team.
