President Donald Trump has said that talks between the US and Iran to end the war could resume as early as this weekend, with Washington and Tehran “very close” to making a deal.
The BBC’s chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet reports that whilst Iranians are keen to end the enmity with the US, leaders do not believe they have lost the war and are not willing to make a deal on Washington’s terms.
Lyse Doucet is reporting from Tehran on condition that none of her material is used on the BBC’s Persian Service. These restrictions apply to all international media organisations operating in Iran.
