Gunmen kill Chinese citizens in Pakistan, injuring 2

Karachi

Unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a dental clinic in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi on Wednesday, killing a Chinese national and injuring two others.

SSP (South) Asad Raza said that the attackers entered the clinic in Karachi’s Sadar area pretending to be a patient, Dawn news reported.

He said one person died and two injured, including a woman, have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. He confirmed that the victims were Chinese people. Later, police identified the victims as 25-year-old Ronald Raymond Chow, 72-year-old Margate and 74-year-old Richard.

Police said that the condition of both the injured foreigners was critical as they were shot in the stomach. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered the immediate arrest of the attackers, saying such incidents cannot be tolerated, according to an official statement.

He has also sought a detailed report from the additional IGP of Karachi. This incident is the latest incident of recent attacks on Chinese citizens in the country.

In April, three Chinese were killed in a suicide bombing at Karachi University by the separatist Baloch Liberation Army, which opposes China’s investment in Balochistan, accusing China and Pakistan of exploiting the resource-rich region. Some other attacks were also attributed to radical Islamist terrorist organizations in Pakistan.
