Myanmar Army fires Buddhist monastery school, 13 killed

The army fired helicopters at a school in a Buddhist monastery in Myanmar. After this, the army entered the village and opened fire. In this 13 people including seven children died. 17 other children were injured. The military says the school was attacked because rebels were using the school to attack military forces. The rebels were hiding in the monastery.

The army alleged that the rebels were using the villagers as human shields. Mijima and Irrawaddy news portals quoted local residents as saying on Monday that the army fired helicopters at a school in a village Buddhist monastery in Myanmar’s central Sagaing region on Friday.

Some children died due to bullet injuries. After this, the army entered the village and opened fire. Other children died in this.

The army has said that it has seized 16 hand-made bombs and weapons in action. Images posted on internet media showed blood stains and damage to the school building caused by the firing.

Earlier last year, the army overthrew the elected government. Since then Myanmar has been scorching in the fire of violence. Armed rebels are fighting with the army.
