Australia changes with Russia, Open entry of Russian tourists

Australia has changed its behaviour towards Russia. Australia has decided not to ban the entry of Russian tourists. Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said on Sunday that we will not ban Russian tourists from entering Australia under sanctions imposed on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

Since the start of the Russo-Ukraine War, Australia has imposed sanctions on hundreds of individuals and entities, including most of Russia’s banking sector and all organizations responsible for the country’s sovereign debt.

Defence equipment was sent to Ukraine

Australia has also supplied defence equipment and humanitarian supplies to Ukraine. While the export of alumina and aluminium ores, including bauxite, to Russia was declared illegal. When Australia’s defence minister was asked whether Australia would also ban Russian tourists, Marles said, “The sanctions are against the Russian government, but not against the Russian people.” He told local news channel ABC in this regard, ‘It is not something that we are considering at the moment.’

Recently, at the request of the Ukrainian ambassador to Australia, Marles refused to divulge anything. The Ukrainian ambassador asked whether Australia would provide more Bushmasters and other protected vehicles to Ukraine. “We will see how we can provide continued support to Ukraine,” Marles said, describing Australia as one of Ukraine’s largest non-NATO military supports.

Emphasis on increasing closer with America and Britain

Let us tell you that in July, Australia promised to give 60 Bushmasters and 28 M113AS4 armoured vehicles to Ukraine. Along with this, it was also said to give 385 million dollars as military aid. Marles said Australia’s agreement with the US and UK to build nuclear-powered submarines under AUKUS is on track.
