SCO Summit: Modi appealed to Putin to end the deadlock


Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit on Friday.

Prime Minister Modi and Vladimir Putin discussed many burning issues. According to the report of news agency Reuters, PM Modi appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.

PM Modi said that this is not the time for war. It is time to look at global concerns (food, fertilizer and fuel security).

News agency PTI said in its report that the two leaders are understood to have expressed their frank views on bilateral, regional and global issues. During this meeting, PM Modi said to Putin – This era is not of war. During the talks, PM Modi indirectly advocated democracy and insisted on breaking the deadlock through diplomacy and dialogue. At the same time, Putin said that he understands Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concerns about the Ukraine war.

I agree with Modi’s concerns

The Russian President said that we also want this to end as soon as possible. Along with this, Putin also focused on the rapidly growing business relations with India. He said – Our business is increasing due to the additional supply of Russian fertilizers in the Indian markets. Currently, it has increased more than eight times. I hope that the supply of fertilizers from Russia will play an important role in helping India’s agricultural sector.

PM Modi described the meeting as fantastic

Prime Minister Modi has described the meeting with Putin as very wonderful. PM Modi tweeted and said – Had a wonderful meeting with President Putin. During this meeting, we had an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, defence and other areas. At the same time, Putin congratulated India in advance for taking over the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization next year. Chinese President Xi Jinping also congratulated India for hosting the SCO during the summit.
