US President Biden will visit India on Friday, where he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The White House announced that Biden will follow COVID-19 guidelines during his visit, as he recently tested negative for the virus.
Biden will also attend the first and second sessions of the G-20 summit, One Earth, One Family, and participate in the event on ‘Cooperation for Infrastructure Development and Investment in the World.” He will also attend a dinner with heads of state.
On Sunday, Biden will travel to Rajghat with other G-20 leaders and then proceed to Hanoi, Vietnam, where he will meet with Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. John Kirby, Strategic Liaison Coordinator of America’s National Security Council, said that discussions on Ukraine and climate change may not be possible in the meeting. Instead, the two are expected to discuss the agenda of the G-20, economic cooperation, multilateral investment, and the reform and restructuring of multilateral development banks (MDBs).
White House Press Secretary Karin Jean Perry expressed the US’s commitment to the success of the G-20 summit hosted by India and the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Biden is eager to pursue common priorities during his visit to India in June.
