Expo City reopens pavilions in September

Expo 2020’s legacy phase will open up for visitors in phases, with the first guests ushered in from 1 September onwards

Expo City Dubai has announced that it will reopen two of its pavilions, Terra and Alif, from 1 September onwards, in line with plans announced for Expo 2020’s legacy phase.

Terra, the Sustainability pavilion, and Alif, the Mobility pavilion, were two of the most visited venues at the expo site during the six-month event that ran from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Entry to the pavilions is priced at AED50 each ($14).

Expo City caters to business goals

Another feature, Garden in the Sky, will also be reopened for visitors, with tickets priced at AED30.

Expo City Dubai will officially launch other site venues – including Al-Wasl Plaza, Surreal water feature, the Women’s pavilion and the Vision pavilion in October 2022.

According to the official statement, much of the public space will be open and free to visit.

In June 2022, officials confirmed plans to transition the Expo 2020 Dubai site into a mixed-use district known as Expo City Dubai. The city will open up for visitors and tenants in phases.

Positioned as a sustainable and tech-enabled hub, the site will remain free of single-use plastic, echoing similar mandates across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

It is also set to host the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (Cop28) in 2023.

The UAE was selected to host Cop28 in November 2021, as it makes steady progress in its energy transition journey. It will be the second Middle East country to host a Cop session, after Egypt later this year.
