Indian Navy gets INS Mormugao


NS Mormugao Indian Navy: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Mumbai on Sunday (December 18) for the commissioning ceremony of P15B stealth-guided missile destroyer Mormugao (INS Mormugao) into the Indian Navy. He dedicated INS Mormugao to the Navy. During this, CDS General Anil Chauhan, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar were also present.

At the commissioning ceremony of indigenously built missile destroyer INS Mormugao by the Indian Navy Commission in Mumbai, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that INS Mormugao is one of the most powerful warships built in India. This will increase India’s maritime capability. He said, “This warship built by MDSL is a great example of our indigenous defense production capability. There is no doubt that in the times to come, we will be building ships not only for our own needs, but also for the needs of the world.”

INS Mormugao a milestone in the history of indigenous warship building

During this, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said, “Today is another milestone in the history of indigenous warship building as we commission INS Mormugao, especially when our sister ship Visakhapatnam was commissioned into the Indian Navy just a year ago. was included.” The Navy Chief said, “This achievement is indicative of the great strides taken by us in warship design and capability building in the last decade. The Navy has a tradition of naming ships after cities, which creates an enduring link between the two.

The INS Mormugao stealth guided missile destroyer built at Mumbai’s Mazagon Dockyard is built for modern warfare. Its most important thing is that its outer layer is made of special steel, so that the enemy cannot locate it on the radar. INS Mormugao is one of the most powerful warships built in the country. This warship, 163 meters long, 17 meters wide and weighing 7400 tonnes, has destructive missiles like BrahMos and Barak 8.
